The Leadership Academy is Urban Youth Impact's signature after-school program that provides a continuum of services from kindergarten through 8th grade. The primary goal of The Leadership Academy is to prepare students during their formative years to succeed in life by providing: academic assistance, character development, social skills, emotional guidance, and spiritual enrichment. During the school year, The Leadership Academy serves up to 120 students through computer-based literacy, faith-based instruction, life skills, mentoring relationships, performing arts, and field trips.

 

A unique trait of The Leadership Academy is the offering of individualized literacy tutoring that targets students who fall behind academically. A specially trained literacy intervention coach spends 15-20 minutes per day with students, providing one-on-one coaching until their reading level reaches that of other students in the class.
