Urban Youth Impact One of Twelve Recipients of
Raymond James $1.5M Donation to Serve The Black Community
Amid social unrest due to racial injustice, Raymond James affirmed their continued focus on and commitment to addressing racial inequality through a pledge for enhanced programming and dedicated support of the Black community. Urban Youth Impact was selected to receive $150,000 over three-years - a time period strategically planned by Raymond James in order to cultivate meaningful, long- lasting relationships with the benefiting organizations.
The pledge outlines Raymond James' overall commitment to the advancement of our Black communities, and it includes an initial $1.5 million contribution to support racial equality, financial literacy and empowerment, and volunteerism opportunities. Ten U.S. markets were identified to receive funding, and local Raymond James leaders were invited to make recommendations based on three key focus areas: Education, Financial Empowerment, and Mentorship.
UYI fulfills each focus area by addressing them through programs that target specific needs in our community. In education, UYI has created after-school programs that focus on literacy. In addition, they have recently launched a tuition-free pilot program for a private Christian academy. In Financial Empowerment, Urban Youth Impact serves high school students in Reframe, a career and college-readiness program. Finally, UYI has recently announced E34 Mentoring, with a goal of partnering each of our inner-city students with a trusted mentor.
