Rosie Wright
This is Rosie Wright, your award winning Fried Chicken parent.
I just wanted to say thank you for all you do. I have seven children and all seven have been to Urban Youth. Kaneshia, my oldest has been a part of the after school program, KAA, Summer Jam, Summer Work Program, and a mentor with the after school program. And we appreciate the much needed scholarship help for her attending Palm Beach State College. I’m so glad she had Urban Youth to help keep her focus and on the right path in life. Her sisters and brothers are following her path. Jekhi, my youngest is in Kindergarten with Ms. Ami.
It took that parenting class to help me understand I needed to tell my children that I love them and not just think they should know it. You would think after seven children I would have said one time, “I love you,” but I never did. It was a God moment my daughter attended that particular class with me that night. When Ms. Pat challenged me to purposely tell each child I love them I had to follow through. And what amazing results. I did notice when I returned from the parent retreat, they were really happy to see me. Oh how refreshing those retreats are. Thank you especially for those.
When Jahuan got the most improved student award at the TLA, he started doing much better in school and his whole attitude changed. He finally believed in himself and that helped and I started supporting more of his school activities.
Mr. Bill, I can’t express what it meant to my family when you came over to visit us and show support doing the time of my brother’s death and helped his children to have a Christmas.
Volunteering at the Food Bank and helping Ms. Pat out when she needed it kept me from being idle while I dealt with my health issues and couldn’t work. Now, I help out my community and am called an ambassador for Coleman Park. Coleman Park is my neighborhood.
So I thank you Urban Youth Impact for your love and support and giving my family direction for our future and our future goals.
