Please click here to download a volunteer application.  Individuals interested in volunteering at annual events do not need to fill out an application.  Volunteers must complete the application and a background check, attend the volunteer orientation, and purchase an Urban Youth Impact volunteer T-shirt and a copy of Bill Hobbs' book.

Volunteer Orientation

"Who's Your Neighbor?" is UYI's monthly volunteer orientation and training.  Sessions include breakfast, a bus tour of the Tamarind Avenue community, and discussions led by staff.  Anyone interested in volunteering is welcome to attend.  RSVP to Candi Eastling at .
8:45 to 11:30 a.m. the third Saturday of every month

Programs

The Leadership Academy
Assist students with their homework or read with students one-on-one.
3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday

Be trained in The Leadership Academy's EDUSS software and work with students in the computer lab.
4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday

Assist with the arts component of The Leadership Academy, such as choir or dance.
3 to 4 p.m. on Wednesdays

Lead Bible studies and encourage youth in their faith.
5 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays

Parent Program
Serve parents dinner, clean up, and provide childcare during parenting classes.
5:30 to 9 p.m. the third Monday of every month

Help with the men's Bible study.
7 to 9 p.m. the first Thursday of every month

Assist with fun and games at the monthly family night.
6 to 8:30 p.m. once a month

Bow Down Church
Help plant a church in the inner-city.
9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Sundays

Mentoring for Boys and Girls
Mentor a child one-on-one once a week and go on a group outing every two weeks.
10 a.m. to 3 p.m. two Saturdays a month

Bible Study for Youth
One-year commitment required to work with youth; otherwise, volunteers may cook dinner for 25 people.
5 to 8 p.m. on Saturdays

Weekly Outreach
5 to 8 p.m. on Fridays at Twin Lakes Housing Development

Summer Jam
Assist with UYI's six-week summer camp for elementary, middle, and high school students.
10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday-Friday in June and July

Administration

Greet guests at the front desk, answer the phone and make calls, and assist with administrative projects.
9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday

Annual Events

Back2School Blast
UYI needs volunteers to assist in the following areas: haircuts, arts and crafts, games, face painting, backpack distribution, hospitality, prayer, parking, registration, setup, and tear down.  Healthcare professionals are needed to assist with health exams, sports physicals, and immunizations.
July or August

Christmas Store
UYI needs volunteers to assist in the following areas: arts and crafts, games, face painting, gift wrapping, personal shopping, hospitality, prayer, parking, registration, setup, and tear down.
