The Dream Center
When Founder and President Bill Hobbs first started Urban Youth Impact, he began to pray for a building that UYI could call its own. In 2005, UYI bought the 32,000 square foot Dream Center. The Dream Center’s location is ideal because it sits between West Palm Beach and Riviera Beach while bordering UYI’s target population: the inner-city residents of Tamarind Avenue.
UYI celebrated the grand opening of its education and medical building in April 2008. The two-story facility holds the Leadership Academy on the first floor, offering brightly colored classrooms, a computer lab, and spacious recreational areas for 120 students. In addition, families in need of legal advice can receive free legal consultation services at the Dream Center.
The second floor holds the Community Health Center, the largest free clinic in Palm Beach County. It provides medical, dental, optical, and pharmaceutical care for uninsured residents, and expects its patient load to trip to 20,000 a year.
After renovations on the Youth Center facility are complete, the Urban Youth Impact Dream Center will become the main site for all of its programs, as well as a safe haven for the residents of the Tamarind Avenue community.
Administrative Building
The Dream Center is divided into three buildings. Building 1 holds UYI’s administrative offices and a multi-purpose room used for the Leadership Academy.
Education and Medical Building
Building 2 holds the Leadership Academy and a 6,000 square foot medical, dental, and optical clinic run by the Community Health Center, a ministry of First Baptist Church of West Palm Beach.
Youth Center
Building 3 will be a full-blown youth center with a high-tech game room, recording studio, dance studio, full commercial kitchen and snack bar, counseling center, and 320-seat auditorium.
