Roots & Wings Graduates Two from Community
Back in December, we described the line our annual Christmas Store generates in the Tamarind community, as parents and children eagerly await for the store to open. Once inside, parents can select free gifts for their children to open Christmas morning. Well, two of those parents who waited all night in line just recently completed our Roots & Wings class offered through the Family Empowerment Program.
“We are so pleased when parents who attend our outreach events decide to do more,” said Family Empowerment Director Pat Dixon. “This class offers the basic in parenting and how to run an effective household based on Biblical principles. Our goal is to break the cycle of hurt and give parents a new outlook on how to love their children.”
The Family Empowerment Program, established in 2002, is an important program that provides support for parents from our community. Our goal is to create strong parents who will build loving households and raise God-loving youth. The program offers monthly parenting classes and family nights; annual parents’ retreats and family picnics; Bible studies for women and men; benevolence support (food, clothing, and shelter assistance); priority shopping at our Christmas Store, and ongoing family support.
