James Cheatham - Director of Project 5:13
James Cheatham is the director of Project 5:13 for Urban Youth Impact. James is developing this new internship program that will bring college-aged students to serve in the inner-city for a year. While serving children and families who live here, interns will be discipled and will learn first-hand about front-line missions.
James Cheatham was born and raised in the very small delta town of Rolling Fork, Mississippi. It was during a summer church camp after his 8th grade year in junior high that he gave his life to Jesus Christ. God opened the doors for James to attend Mississippi College from 1996 to 2001 where he received his Bachelors in Social Work. During his time in college, Jesus began to challenge James with the fact that his life was no longer his to live as he wanted, but that the call of Christ was a higher call to devote your life to Him and to others. God also blessed James in college by allowing him to meet his beautiful future wife and helpmate, Alicia. James and Alicia were married in September of 2003 and since then God has blessed them with two precious children; Lucy in 2007 and James Andrew in 2009. Alicia is also due to give birth to their new daughter in August 2011.
James has served as a student and house church pastor in Lake Jackson, Texas. He has worked as a middle school science teacher and coached a variety of sports, most passionately the great game of American football. James and his family moved to West Palm Beach to live off of Tamarind Ave and work in the community. He is now serving dual roles with Urban Youth Impact as director of Project 5:13, the internship program of UYI and as an assistant pastor of Bow Down Church.
James also likes swimming with dophins and sea lions.
