Patricia Dixon - Family Empowerment Program Director

Patricia Dixon, also known as "G.P." (Grandma Pat), came to Urban Youth Impact in 2001 as part of a focus group on community needs. She was introduced to Mr. Bill in 1997 by her grandson, Travar Dixon, at a weekly outreach. G.P. graduated from the very first Parent Program offered by Urban Youth Impact in 2002 and her daughter, Tasha graduated the following year. In 2002, G.P. was added to the Urban Youth Impact family as parent liaison and later took on the Family Empowerment Program Coordinator position.
Pat graduated 7th in her class at Crystal River High School and attended Southern Illinois University, Carbondale where she met her husband, Tommie Dixon. G.P. resides in the Tamarind Avenue community as the caretaker for three grandchildren, three god children and a dog.
G.P. has been an active member of this community since 1968 and has worked for Northern Telecom, C-MAC, and Target where she developed a great love for her community.
Pat’s passion and love for the parents have enhanced the program now called The Family Empowerment Program, to include community involvement, parenting classes, family nights, annual retreats and picnics.
